Ardour Meets Yuri Marmerstein
Posted on May 09 2018
"We can take any movement in our day-to-day lives and it can be improved upon."
In this 'Ardour Meets' episode, we caught up with Yuri Marmerstein during his recent visit to Ireland. Hosted by Dave Hedges, owner of the Wild Geese in Dublin, Yuri was delivering his two day, handstand workshop. In this interview he shares his thoughts on 'movement', moving better, hand balancing and what to expect from his workshops.
During the workshop Yuri coached a wide range of areas. Day one focused on developing and performing a handstand as well as how to teach them more effectively. Day two moved into more advanced positional work, like press handstands, 'Mexicans' and tumbling.
"There's few skills that really demand that kind of wakeful consciousness and precision that the handstand does."
The workshop saw participants from all over Europe, ranging from disciplines in acrobatics, hand balancing, Crossfit and dance.
"It's about finding what the human body is capable of."
